Is there anything he won’t play?

Yesterday in the Norway tournament Nakamura played the Ponziani Opening against GM Svidler (rated 2769). The result was a draw, which was instigated by Black, so this proves that any opening is playable – it’s the player’s skill that matters. Granted, you likely don’t have the tactical wizardry of Nakamura, but on the other hand your opponents are not nearly as good as Svidler. So focus on the middlegame, tactics, and endings, and don’t obsess about the opening phase of the game. I write this for myself, but I know I will probably not follow my own advice….
