FIDE World Cup Day one

Kamsky, playing Black, makes a draw against his lower rated opponent.

Nakamura makes short work of his opponent, Peruvian Deysi Cori, the #3 ranked female player in the Americas.

Ray Robson wins a nice game against strong GM Volokitin (who actually has a plus score against Carlsen!)

And Ernie won’t want to see this, but the upset victim of the day is Alexander Morozovich, playing Black and falling to recent Canadian transplant, GM Bator Sambuev. Here’s the game:

Looking at round 4 results and we see Kamsky won a nice game today vs Mamedyarov in a smashing attack. Nakamura was held to a draw. kramnik and Carauana were other winners today.

Yes it is true i did not want to see the Morozevich loss but he did manage to bounce back and win that Round in the tiebreaks. It is tough to have to win a game where a draw sends you home. It is also a lot of pressure on the player trying to secure the draw ! #1 Seed Aron Levonian has already been eliminated.

Kamsky wins and Nakamura loses in Round 4.2 in the World Cup of chess. Kamsky along with Kramnik ,Carauana and Korobov advance to the quarterfinals. Nakumura who was defeated by Anton Korobov goes home.
