Game 5: English opening, perhaps another draw

This is still an interesting game; Anand appears to be once again on the defensive, but it also looks like he’ll be able to hold. It’s probably not too pleasant for Anand to feel like he’s always fighting for a draw, but on the other hand it is probably frustrating for the top-rated player in the world, Carlsen, to gain an advantage but be unable (so far) to convert it to a win.

Anand definitely plays more directly when he’s White, so I am looking forward to tomorrow’s game.

    I had the same impression. Looked at the computer a few hors later and was surprised to see Carlsen scored the full point. Time to go over game to see where Anand went wrong. Congrats to Carlsen who has an uncanny ability to squeeze water out of a rock.
