Candidates tournament has started

It is taking place in Russia (do chess players get a home field advantage? If so, the four Russians participating might have an edge). The official site seems to have all the info well covered, and there’s always The Week in Chess for good reporting after each round. Or ChessVibes. Or Chessbase. Basically, you will have to try hard to avoid coverage of this important event.

How did Round 1 go? Biggest news is Anand taking out Aronian (click the link for the full game). Ok, that’s the only news, as the other games were drawn.

It’s too bad Nakamura couldn’t get in…
